Chief Technology Manager

The core aim of technology and innovation management is to provide technologies required for innovative services and products at the right time and cost and to develop suitable business models. The five-day »Chief Technology Manager« (CTM) certificate course at RWTH Aachen University includes in-depth consolidation of successful approaches in academic research as well as industry practice: Efficient knowledge transfer from designing a consistent technology strategy to identifying new technologies to business model innovations and successful market implementation.

Experienced RWTH Aachen University and Fraunhofer IPT instructors ensure that contents covered – the most recent methods and trends in technology and innovation management – are highly relevant to what you experience in practice and can be applied in your business right away.

Learning objectives

The CTM course aims to enable participants to implement successful technology and innovation management approaches in their own businesses. Top-class speakers from both the academy and consulting explain theoretical foundations of modern technology and innovation management. The CTM course revolves around case studies and tutorials, allowing participants to concretize and apply this theoretical groundwork. In addition to lectures and tutorials there will be plenty of time throughout the course for professional and personal exchange and networking at joint social events in the evening.

Structure

The program is scheduled for five days and includes a detailed presentation and consolidation of successful approaches in technology and innovation management from academia as well as industry practice – including design of a consistent technology strategy, identifying new technologies and its focused development as well as development of innovative business models to successfully implement products on the market. The number of participants is capped at 20 to ensure efficient knowledge transfer between participants and instructors.

Target group

The CTM course targets professional and managerial staff with technology-oriented businesses, in particular from R&D, technology and innovation management, new business development and strategy, production as well as technology procurement and management.
