Individual defect detection: Strip light projection for detection of production-related defects

The basis of any competitive production are the most modern manufacturing processes. Only those who continuously optimize their performance, at the same time act flexibly and can meet the high demands on quality assurance will be successful in the market in the future. In particular, the constant flexibilization of production processes and increased demands on quality assurance present companies with new challenges. Measuring systems that support these requirements are therefore essential to produce the future.

The Fraunhofer IPT is therefore working on making production processes more efficient using measurement technology, increasing productivity and guaranteeing high quality. Measurement technology is thus a key technology for making complex production processes possible in the first place. In particular, the production integration of metrology systems offers a technological advantage.

The goal of production-integrated quality assurance is always the recording and evaluation of relevant quality parameters, if possible, in spatial and temporal proximity to the actual production process. In this way, actual values recorded in the production cycle can be made available to the process again as target values and used for control purposes. This allows complex manufacturing processes to be better mastered and individually adapted to the product.

Production and process-integrated measurement systems, intelligent measurement and control strategies and the corresponding integration of information technology into the production environment accelerate the reaction times to process changes and target deviations and thus enable networked, adaptive production.

and maintenance

By recording real data in detail during the manufacturing processes, patterns can be uncovered that allow targeted adaptation of the processes and process chains.

Process monitoring

More economical process chains and the proof of certification obligations are objectives that are supposed to be achieved in the serial production of products using real-time production data.

Defect detection

Production-integrated measuring technology forms the control element of a production line for recording production-related defects and makes it possible to evaluate the quality of the manufactured products within the framework of a 100 percent inspection.

Ceramic test bed

Defect detection test bed for in-line measurements for reliable and reproducible detection of defects in the production of transparent ceramics using optical measurement technology.

Wafer inspection

With high-speed microscopy, micro components on wafers can be inspected fully automatically for defects. This includes short-circuit and interruption detection, measurement of geometries and particle detection.
