Resilient Value Chains for Food Production

White paper / Technology organization /

Supplying the population and ensuring food safety are systemically relevant tasks, especially in times of crisis. Resilient, i.e. crisis-proof, value chains in the food industry are of great importance. Resilience is characterized not only by the fact that food and its preliminary products are quickly available again after disruptions, but above all by the safety of the end products. The white paper "Resilient value chains for food production" by Fraunhofer IPT, Fraunhofer IME and Fraunhofer IVV shows the successful application of a resilient system architecture. To assess resilience in food production, the team of authors looks at two dimensions: the technical resilience of the production facilities used and the ecosystem resilience of the food grown.
