Aachen Machine Tool Colloquium – AWK'23

Empower Green Production

It is about time to take action: Global crises such as climate change, the corona pandemic and now the latest developments in Ukraine show that there is far more at stake than politically set sustainability targets or supply bottlenecks in some specific indus-trial sectors. Today, the manufacturing industry is still highly dependent on global logistics chains, fossil energy and rare raw ma-terials. Unpredictable natural events and political upheavals challenge companies in ways they have never experienced beforet. A circular economy that can operate more independently of carbon-based fossil fuels such as oil, gas and coal could help them achieve greater resilience and security, while helping to meet global emissions and climate targets.

Under the overall topic “Empower Green Production” AWK’23, which will take place on May 11 and 12, 2023, in a hybrid event format both at the Aachen Eurogress and digitally, will show how new technologies and concepts for more crisis-resistant and at the same time green production could look in the future, overcoming dependence on conventional energy suppliers. With AWK’23, the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University at the RWTH Aachen and the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT will be offering one of the world’s most re-nowned network meetings for top-class experts and leaders from manufacturing industry, business, science and politics.

Which concrete approaches and developments will shape the transformation to a more sustainable, energy- and resource-efficient industry and economy in the coming years is the focus of the 31st AWK.

Experience top-class keynote speakers, an international industry exhibition, institute tours and breakout sessions. The focus will be on which concrete approaches and developments will shape a more sustainable energy- and resource-efficient industry and economy in the coming years.

The conference, which is steeped in tradition and always aims to highlight and reflect the latest developments in production technology, is both a network meeting and an information hub: In exchange with more than 1,000 participants from different disciplines and fields, a top-class lecture program and tours of the host research institutes, AWK’23 offers a globally unique insight into the trends in applied research and development in industry and science.
