Industrie 4.0 plays a prominent role for the future development of production in Germany. Industrial value creation will be changed and new business models will be possible, creating new perspectives for Germany as a business location.
The aim of the research project INBENZHAB was to develop options for the design of industrial production in Germany and to uncover topics in which there are opportunities for a German pioneering role. In a first step Germany's position was determined in an international benchmark. Subsequently, the future developments for the production and its environment as well as relevant technologies were planned ahead. Finally, strategic recommendations for the achievement of the target position were developed.
The results of the research project contribute to the successful design of the transformational processes resulting from the technology trend "Internet of Things, Data and Services" for the production location Germany. The project provides impulses and decision support for the future-oriented design of research and development in the context of Industrie 4.0.
The research project was a cooperation of the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT with the German Academy of Engineering Sciences acatech, the Heinz Nixdorf Institute (University of Paderborn) and the Machine Tool Laboratory WZL of RWTH Aachen University.
