Application Guidelines

Required documents

  1. Curriculum vitae in German or English (German standard, which includes an optional picture)
  2. Cover Letter in German or English
  3. Transcript of Records (the transcripts generated by the university system are enough, even if it is in Portuguese)
  4. Recommendation letter (optional)
  5. Certificates (optional)

All documents must be sent together in one PDF document in the above sequence (1st Curriculum vitae, 2nd Motivation letter, 3rd Transcript of Records, 4th Recommendation Letter and 5th Certificates) and the name of the document must be the full name of the student and his university in parentheses. Example: Antonio da Silva (UFSC)

  • Personal Information: full name, birthday, birthplace
  • Contact data: address, telephone number, email address
  • Education: university, courses
  • Work experience: extra-curricular projects, volunteer work, internship etc.
  • Skills: languages, software
  • Hobbies and interests
  • For curriculum vitae in German, we recommend (not mandatory) to use the available samples provided by a "Lebenslauf Editor" easily found in the internet.
  • For curriculum vitae in English, we recommend (not mandatory) to follow the German standard formats available in the above-mentioned website, adapting it to English.

  • Professional and personal qualifications
  • For each position, there is a Reference Number. The students have to express which position or positions they are applying for, by means of the reference number. It is recommended to apply for more than one but no more than three positions.
  • The student should inform the positions applied for as well as their priorities right after the salutation of the cover letter.

Preselection

The partner university cooperates with our Institute implementing a preselection and has autonomy to add any eligibility criteria or even request from the student any other documentation.

Arrival in Aachen

The student arrives in Aachen at least 10 working days before the contract start date.

Contract duration

For all positions, we require a stay at our Institute at least for 1 year and 15 days.

Housing

Due to the high demand for accommodation in the Aachen region, especially among students, you should apply for student accommodation here in this early application phase. More information about accommodation in Aachen can be found here.

Payment

Remuneration according to Remuneration at student assistant level. The monthly salary is enough to cover all mean basic expenses including rent, food, health insurance, transport etc.

WZL and Fraunhofer IPT

  • The students for positions between 2024-2-16 and 2024-2-26 will work for the Fraunhofer Institute for Laser Technology (ILT)
  • The students for positions between 2024-2-27 and 2024-2-30 will work for our spin-off company gemineers GmbH
  • The students for positions between 2024-2-31 and 2024-2-38 will work at our neighbour and partner institute Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen University
