5G experience seminar: Use cases and their economic value

With low latencies and high data rates, 5G offers enormous potential for production: processes can be continuously monitored and documented, and process flows can be designed adaptively in real time. Through the interaction of the 5G network with Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN) and local edge cloud systems, end-to-end real-time applications can be implemented in a scalable manner - from the sensor to the cloud.

In our 5G experience seminar, we would like to talk about the possibilities and economic benefits of the technology to make an informed decision about whether 5G could also be worthwhile for your production.

At the Fraunhofer IPT, we have been investigating 5G in an industrial context since 2017. During our research work, we have installed and commissioned the "5G-Industry Campus Europe" one of the world's first 5G research networks on the Melaten campus of RWTH Aachen University together with the mobile communications equipment supplier Ericsson. On almost one square kilometer of outdoor and indoor network, we are researching together with our partners the requirements for a 5G network in a production context and related use cases in the field of sensor technology, robotics, logistics and cross-site production chains.

About the seminar

In the seminar, we talk about today's challenges in manufacturing and how 5G can be used to address them. We will dive deeper into the potential use cases for 5G and their economic benefits. In a guided tour of the 5G-Industry Campus Europe, we will show you our already proven use cases and how you can leverage them for your production. Complementary expert presentations round off the seminar and provide an insight into the possibilities with 5G for your production. In addition, you will have the opportunity to ask all your questions in Q&As with the experts and receive recommendations for action for your company.
