Context- and situation-specific information provision

Context- and situation-specific provision of information in production

The production of today and tomorrow is characterized by an increasing complexity of products, processes and production systems. There are many reasons for this: whether it is the integration of sensor technology, the increasing individualization of products or the advancing digitization and networking. In this challenging environment, it is absolutely important to act quickly and purposefully. It is therefore essential to provide context- and situation-specific information for decision-making.

Merging data from different sources such as ERP, ME and CAQ systems as well as preparing data into usable information is the basis for information provision. Information can then be provided on mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets or smart glasses. Ergonomics and intuitive user guidance are of particular importance here, often supplemented by new visualization options such as virtual or augmented reality. Depending on the context in which the information is provided, it can be adapted to the respective situation. The use of indoor localization makes it possible, for example, to visualize status information only from machines in the immediate vicinity of the user.

Our range of services

  • Systematic identification of information deficits and procedural weaknesses
  • Analysis of the existing IT infrastructure to integrate new solutions for information provision
  • Conception of information systems
  • Prototype implementation and validation of the designed solutions

Smart workforce planning and training

In the project "reQenrol", an assistance system for competence-based workforce scheduling and work-based training is developed.

Flexible assembly systems

New methods of planning and control of agile, freely linked assembly systems are investigated in the research project "AIMFREE".

Adaptive, context-specific AR instructions

In order to reduce the effort for creating and maintaining manuals, "AdaptAR" develops adaptive and context-specific AR manuals for the entire product life cycle.

Freely networked assembly systems

The research project "freeMoVe" develops new organizational forms for the demand-oriented provision of information in the freely networked assembly.

Information compression for assistance systems

The research project "DAISY" defines design rules for device- and context-dependent information compression of worker assistance systems.
