At Photonics West 2018, Fraunhofer IPT will show active alignment of optical components as well as a digitalized production environment for the replicative manufacturing of high precision glass optics.
The enabling technologies for the ultra-precision assembly processes are the micromanipulator C6 – Commander 6 and the ultra-precision UV-curing adhesive bonding technology. Often, the C6 is customized by integrating curing equipment and sensing technology to get an integrated alignment and assembly tool. The applications are FAC lens alignment to high-power diode laser, automotive Lidar, driving assistant cameras and headlights as well as the assembly of fibers and photonic integrated circuits.
The digitalization of glass molding will be demonstrated by means of a software that represents the latest state for cyber-physical systems in optics production. It provides machine data and numerical simulation on various devices to make optics production smarter. Furthermore, Fraunhofer IPT presents demonstrators of molded Infrared-transmissive optcs, a scaling approach by means of wafer-level glass molding as well as 3d-shaped thin glass and ultra-thin ground ceramics for next-generation displays.
