The smart manufacturing network serves as an enabler for connected, adaptive production processes.

The ICNAP deals with developments for Indutrie 4.0 that are going to be implemented in the form of six practical pilot lines in the energy, mobility and health sectors.

At the Hannover Messe from April 1st to 5th, Fraunhofer researchers will be collaborating with Swedish experts to show how Industrie 4.0-style networked manufacturing can even extend across borders. One of the key components in controlling and monitoring connected machines is the future 5G mobile communications standard.

The ICNAP generates an open research platform and test environment for the industry, where new concepts for digital production can be probed.
