Laser surface structuring

For surface structuring we use compact, exchangeable laser system heads with special functions. The combination of dynamic beam expanders, scanner systems and the extension for inline measurements enable precise surface structuring.

Laser roughing of high-performance materials

Wear-free rough machining of high-performance cutting materials such as polycrystalline diamond, can be carried out by laser ablation. On the test rig we operate a robot system for automated loading with indexable cutting inserts made of polycrystalline diamond.

Laser-assisted titanium milling

The local laser irradiation of the material directly before the cutting edge engagement significantly reduces the process forces during the machining of high-performance materials and minimizes tool wear.

Local laser hardening, cutting and milling

Precise control systems permit us to use the laser for localized material processing. The use of lasers makes sense when only parts of the workpiece or material are to be processed. This eliminates the need for energy-intensive furnace processes.

Laser-assisted punching, bending and flange forming

By heating sheet metal shortly before the processing step, high-strength materials can be processed much more easily: In cutting operations, tools in mass manufacturing operations can achieve a clear-cut surface ratio of up to 100 percent with a cutting gap of ten percent of the sheet thickness. Embossing depths of up to 50 percent of the sheet thickness are also possible in the case of spring steel 1.4310. When bending high-strength sheet metal, the bending radius can be significantly reduced and the integration of a laser module also leads to better results in flange-forming operations: By collaborating with industrial partners to deploy laser heating, we have successfully increased the fracture-free flange height by up to 100%.
