This center was established with funding from the Land North Rhine-Westphalia as a platform for the provision of current information on the topic of precision and micro-technology. Our services range from the precision machining of silicon wafers for the semi-conductor industry and the manufacture of ultra-precise tool masters for the replication of plastic and glass components to the handling and assembly of micro fuel cells.

3rd Aachen Precision Days 2012

After the successful conference in May 2010 with about 80 participants from industry and research, the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology will be holding the "3rd Aachen Precision Days" on February 28 and 29, 2012. The international conference focuses on the current status of technology as well as ongoing developments and research approaches for the production of precision and micro components.
The "3rd Aachen Precision Days" will focus on the following topics:

• Machine technology and manufacturing strategies for the production of complex geometries and large-scale precision components

• Materials and processes for use in precision and ultra-precision manufacturing

• Challenges and possibilities of automated precision assembly
